Structural Excellence Award 2010
The Structural Excellence Award aims to promote excellence in structural engineering demonstrated through the design and construction of buildings and structures in the last few years. The first award was held in 1998/1999 and this is the twelfth event. There are two categories of awards – Hong Kong Projects and Mainland/Overseas Projects. Under Hong Kong Projects, the awards are sub-divided into four categories for Infrastructures, Heritage Buildings, Composite and Commercial Buildings, and Residential and Insitutional Buildings.
On 10 April 2010, the Judging Panel met together and after lengthy discussion short-listed the finalists. Following site visits and hearing presentations on 24 April 2010, awards were decided based on: interalia, the following assessment criteria: aesthetics, buildability, economy, engineering approach, heritage conservation, innovation, integration, serviceability, sustainability and unique features.
