Scope and Objectives
Welding is the commonly used process for joining steel materials by raising local temperature so as to effectively fuse the two pieces of steel together. As proper welding works attribute to the structural safety of building works, essential procedures, specifications and certificates of welding in buildings are required to be submitted for approval under the Buildings Ordinance.
The Code of Practice for The Structural Use of Steel 2011 stipulates the requirements of essentials of welding in the approval letter as conditions, which may comprise the following: –
a) Welding consumables
b) Welding procedure specifications
c) Welder test certificates
This seminar is tailor-made for building professionals, particularly those Technically Competent Persons (TCP) of the Supervision Plan System under the Buildings Ordinance, to refresh them with basic knowledge on the pre-requisites of welding aspects and to enlighten them with updated information in the essential aspects of welding works in buildings as required under the Buildings Ordinance.
Speaker
HKISC is pleased to invite the speaker Mr. Vinodh Kumar, who is the Manager (NDT &Welding) of Fugro Technical Services Ltd., Hong Kong. Mr. Vinodh acquires his BEng (Hons)from Australia and has gained many international Certifications in Non-destructive Testing,Welding, Painting, Coating, Asset Integrity and QHSE Management Systems.

Registration fees
The registration fee includes a copy of lecture notes, a copy of half-day CPD certificate.
Regular Registration: HK$ 600 each for HKISC and HKIE Members; HK$ 800 each for non HKISC/ HKIE Members.
Group Registration: HK$ 600 each for group registration of at least 5 people
