The IABSE Young Engineers Colloquium East Asia in Hong Kong

The IABSE Hong Kong Group is pleased to invite you to the 4th Young Engineers Colloquium in East Asia
The colloquium will be held from November 30 – December 1, 2024 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The goal of the colloquium is to help young structural engineers (under the age of 40) in East Asia make friends, learn from each other and develop their professional career together. It aims to offer a platform to present their research, projects and innovative design ideas.
The following three main activities are scheduled over two days. These activities will hopefully facilitate lively, informative discussions between young researchers and field practitioners. Prizes will be awarded to the best design and paper presentations!
I. Team design competition: Young engineers will develop conceptual design for a lookout platform within the given scope and present their ideas. The design site and related information is provided in separate documents. The international experts from the IABSE national groups will evaluate the submitted designs. II. Paper Presentation: Young engineers can present research papers on any topic in structural engineering including PhD and MS studies. They can also present design or construction projects of any kind of structures. The presentation will be made verbally. III. Social activities: For participants, there will be a social visit and a colloquium dinner and award ceremony. The social visit includes Bus Tour to Bridges Look-Out Point and the Big Buddha in Lantau.
Application and Registration
Young engineers in any country can make presentations and participate in the design competition. Not only young engineers but also senior engineers are expected to participate in this colloquium and are welcome. Registration fee is 1,200 HKD (About 145 USD). This registration fee includes proceedings, lunch, and the colloquium buffet party. Registration details are as below.
