The traditional structural engineering workflow in Hong Kong often remains fragmented, characterized by disconnected processes that bridge structural analysis, BIM modeling, and manual detailing. This disconnect frequently leads to data loss, design inconsistencies, and inefficient coordination between the structural model and statutory documentation. This presentation explores the emergence of advanced, integrated structural platforms that allow for a seamless transition from initial analysis to final submission within a unified digital environment.
 

We will examine how to bridge the gap between conceptual design and regulatory compliance through a centralized digital workflow. The presentation will demonstrate the efficacy of utilizing modern Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis that is inherently linked to detailing tools, ensuring that structural data remains consistent throughout the project lifecycle.
 

We will further discuss how this integration simplifies the generation of comprehensive calculation reports and professional-grade engineering drawings tailored to Hong Kong’s stringent statutory requirements.

About the Speakers:
Ir Gabriel Yu is the Managing Director of Prudential Surveyors International Limited and holds Directorships at Prucom Digital Solutions Limited, Eternal Year Property Service Limited, and Prudential Surveyors (Hong Kong) Limited. In these capacities, he commands a multidisciplinary team of over 400 professionals—spanning engineering, surveying, town planning, and real estate—across Hong Kong and Mainland China. Under his leadership, the group delivers a full spectrum of property and engineering solutions, including civil engineering, project management, BIM, valuation, land advisory, and facility management.
 

With extensive cross-boundary expertise, Ir Yu’s practice covers Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and the wider Greater Bay Area (GBA), with a specialized focus on infrastructure development, built environment digitalization, and construction risk advisory. A recognized leader in digital construction, he is a Construction Industry Council (CIC) Certified BIM Manager. His pioneering contributions to the field have earned him prominent accolades, including the EMSD BIM-AM Champion Award (2023–2024), the EMSD BIM Application Champion Award (2024–2025), and double honors at the HKICBIM Awards 2025 as both the BIM Gold Practitioner and the lead for the BIM Gold Project.
 

An alumnus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (BEng) and the University of Hong Kong (MSc), Ir Yu is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Registered Professional Engineer (RPE), and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (FICE). He holds corporate memberships in prestigious institutions including HKIE, HKICM, HKIFM, RICS, and CICES.
 

Recognized as a pioneer in regional integration, Ir Yu is among the first cohort of Hong Kong construction engineering assessment experts officially recognized in Shenzhen, and is a certified engineering professional in both Hengqin (Zhuhai) and Qianhai (Shenzhen). Dedicated to nurturing the next generation of talent, he serves as an ICE Reviewer for professional examinations and sits on the Industry Advisory Committee of RMIT University.
 

Ir Dr George Wong is an accomplished structural engineer and a leader in digital transformation, with over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, specializing in structural design analysis, Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital transformation and industry development. He has made significant achievements in leading large-scale projects, developing innovative BIM solutions, and promoting digital applications in the industry. He specializes in strategic planning, team leadership, and facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration between academia, industry, and government.
 

As a visionary leader in the field of construction innovation in Hong Kong, Ir Dr Wong has combined years of engineering excellence with digital transformation leadership to inject digital processes into many projects, successfully obtained pre-accepted structural programs for overseas software, and formulated the first BIM (structure) for the Construction Industry Council (CIC) advanced BIM courses. During his tenure as Senior Manager (Head of Construction Digitalisation) of the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council, he led the formulation of Hong Kong’s first “Construction Digitalisation Roadmap” – promoting BIM and Digital Application Areas throughout the whole lifecycle of the construction projects that shaped the future landscape of the industry.
 

Currently as the Associate Director of CivilConnect Limtied, Ir Dr Wong is committed to continue leveraging his years of experience in engineering and innovation and technology to promoting the intelligent upgrading of structural engineering through digital transformation and AI.
